Climate Resilient Stewardship Fellow

Overview

Colorado Conservation Fellowship – Climate Resilient Stewardship Fellow. 2‑year, full‑time (35 hrs/wk) program beginning September 2026, part of the Colorado Chapter of The Nature Conservancy. The Fellow supports stewardship staff in climate‑informed management planning and project coordination for preserves throughout Colorado.

• Assist in developing and updating TNC preserve management plans with a focus on climate resilience.
• Gather, synthesize, and analyze climatic, ecological, and scientific literature and internal resources to inform planning decisions.
• Draft new plan sections, revise existing plans, and produce related documents ensuring clarity and consistency.
• Support vulnerability assessments of key conservation values.
• Coordinate and review draft plans to meet project timelines, receiving training in project‑management practices.
• Assist with short‑term stewardship projects that may involve interns or volunteers.
• Work in the office and in the field to monitor conditions and provide on‑ground observations.
• Collaborate closely with stewardship staff, partners, and other stakeholders on conservation planning.
• Participate in networking, mentorship, and professional‑development opportunities.

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, natural resources management, or related field with at least 1 yr related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Experience coordinating multiple projects and handling standard business communications.
• Able to travel locally.
• Valid driver’s license and compliance with TNC Auto Safety Program (no high‑risk drivers).

• Multilingual, multicultural or cross‑cultural experience.
• Interest or experience with climate adaptation, resilience planning, or applied conservation strategies.
• Strong analytical skills for report preparation and problem solving.
• Research skills and ability to synthesize information.
• Capacity to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
• Experience using databases for data entry and report production.
• Administrative strengths, attention to detail, and numerical aptitude.
• English language proficiency for reading, writing, and communication.
