Position Summary
This role is a Process Development Associate within the Process Operations team, responsible for conducting laboratory studies, maintaining laboratory equipment, and supporting process development activities. The associate executes lab work, documents results, author operational documents, and serves as a key contact for laboratory projects. The position is salaried, exempt, and may require off‑hours or shift work based on laboratory needs.
Position Responsibilities- Conduct laboratory experiments supporting process development, including preparation of solutions and running unit operations such as fermentation, homogenization, clarification, filtration, and chromatography.
- Execute basic analyses of process samples (absorbance, solids content, plating, pH, conductivity, metabolites, etc.) and document procedures, observations, and results in electronic laboratory notebooks.
- Apply judgment within defined procedures and troubleshoot experimental deviations, carrying out elementary data analysis to determine rejected data.
- Maintain and schedule periodic maintenance of laboratory equipment and keep instrumentation knowledge up to date.
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of chemicals; dispose of hazardous waste per safety regulations.
- Participate in process development meetings and technical investigations as needed.
- Identify and implement continuous operation improvement ideas, contributing to process efficiency.
- Maintain training compliance and adhere to all safety and health training requirements.
- Provide support for off‑hours or shift work when necessary.
- B.S. degree in microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, engineering, or related field (or equivalent training).
- A.S. or B.S. with 0+ years of related experience.
- Experience in stirred tank fermentations (single‑use and stainless), chromatography, precipitation, and filtration methods preferred.
- Basic scientific approach, technical writing, and communication skills.
- Basic understanding of laboratory equipment and maintenance.
Process Development Associate I: $55,000-$75,900 per year.
