Role DescriptionKioga is seeking a microbiology intern to support our microbial strain discovery platform. This hands‑on laboratory role will focus on isolating and characterizing novel environmental bacteria with potential applications in human health and nutrition.
Responsibilities- Isolate, culture, and characterize bacterial strains from environmental samples
- Perform routine microbiology workflows using sterile technique
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and strain inventories
- Follow established protocols and help draft or improve SOPs
- Support basic phenotypic testing and sample preparation for downstream analysis
- Senior undergraduate or recent graduate in microbiology, biology, biotechnology, or a related field
- Hands‑on experience with aseptic technique and microbial culture
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and laboratory documentation
- Comfortable working independently after training and following defined procedures
This is an opportunity to gain practical experience building a microbial discovery platform at an early‑stage biotechnology company.
