The Rio prides itself on having a scratch kitchen, and our prep cooks are a key part to our success. Our prep cooks are responsible for prepping fresh food items to be used throughout each shift, as well as a variety of other kitchen duties. They are required to know the Rio's recipes and menu item book. Prep cooks help with other positions in the kitchen, including all positions on the line.

Other duties include:

• Maintaining an organized and clean work station.
• Filling out daily log sheets.
• Receiving deliveries and verifying accuracy.
• Practicing proper food storage procedures.
• Operating a variety of kitchen equipment safely.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilties

• Able to effectively communicate with management and co-workers.
• Basic Serve Safe knowledge is required.
• Understand and practice proper knife storage and usage.
• Understand and practice all food storage procedures.
• Able to multi-task well and excel in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to create great working relationships with teammates.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work on foot for extended periods of time (up to 10-12 hours per day).
• Must be able to move 50 lbs for distances of up to 10 ft.
• Must be able to balance and move up to 25 lbs for distances of up to 50 ft.
• Must be able to withstand work environments from 0 degrees F to 100 degrees

• Must be able to understand and respond to co-workers in a loud environment.
• Must be able to visually recognize proper food presentations and food quality.
