Overview
The Technical Sales Manager is a mid-level sales professional responsible for executing the sales process from qualified opportunity through close, while partnering closely with the Commercial Operations Team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in consultative and process-driven selling who is comfortable selling complex, technical solutions. The Technical Sales Manager focuses on opportunity management, discovery, solution alignment, and deal execution, while leveraging technical leadership and marketing support as needed.
Responsibilities- Own the sales process for assigned opportunities from qualification through contract execution
- Run structured, repeatable sales processes aligned with company standards
- Conduct discovery calls to understand customer needs, workflows, and decision criteria
- Manage multi-stakeholder buying processes and timelines
- Develop and maintain accurate pipeline forecasts in Salesforce
- Drive deals to close while maintaining pricing discipline and deal quality
- Technical & Solution-Based Selling
- Sell consultatively by aligning customer problems to technical solutions
- Partner with the Director of Technical Solutions on complex technical discovery, pilots, and solution design
- Clearly articulate product capabilities, value propositions, and ROI
- Support technical demos, pilots, and proof-of-value engagements
- Translate technical concepts into clear business outcomes for customers
- Process Discipline & CRM Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date Salesforce records including pipeline stage, deal size, close dates, and notes
- Follow defined sales stages, qualification criteria, and approval processes
- Contribute to continuous improvement of sales processes and playbooks
- Ensure clean handoffs to Customer Operations after deal close
- Collaboration & Internal Alignment
- Work closely with Marketing on inbound leads and campaign follow-up
- Coordinate with Product and Technical teams to ensure solution feasibility
- Surface customer feedback, objections, and competitive insights to leadership
- Participate in deal reviews, pipeline meetings, and forecast calls
- Business Development & Growth Support
- Support expansion and upsell opportunities within existing accounts
- Participate in industry events, conferences, and customer meetings as needed
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships throughout the sales cycle
- What Success Looks Like
- Consistent achievement of sales targets and pipeline goals
- Strong forecast accuracy and CRM hygiene
- Deals progress efficiently through the sales process
- Customers clearly understand value, scope, and next steps before close
- Smooth transition from sales to customer operations
- 4–8 years of experience in B2B sales, preferably in technical, SaaS, data, or hardware-enabled solutions
- Proven experience running a structured, process-driven sales cycle
- Strong discovery, qualification, and deal management skills
- Comfortable selling complex or technical solutions
- Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM systems
- Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally and learn technical concepts quickly
