Role Overview

Target Security Specialist focuses on maintaining a safe environment for guests and team members. Key responsibilities include greeting guests, enforcing security protocols, responding to incidents, and collaborating with store leaders and law‑enforcement agencies.

• Intelligence‑led security tactics to protect staff and guests.
• Experience in crisis response, safety, crowd management.
• De‑escalation techniques and physical security controls.
• Proficiency using Target’s video surveillance system.
• Accurate case‑management documentation.

• Welcome guests at the front of the store.
• Promote a physical security culture; assess and maintain safe standards.
• Respond to and document security incidents promptly.
• Address guest issues to provide a safe environment.
• Leverage de‑escalation tactics during incidents.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and support apprehensions per AP policies.
• Prevent theft and shortage via receipt checks and trend communication.
• Submit all incident documentation in the case management system.
• Use Target’s video surveillance system appropriately.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
• Work safely, complying with policies, and reporting hazards.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

• Minimum 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet state or local licensure or other legal requirements.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
• Communicate on frequency devices, operate handheld scanners and technology equipment.
• Work independently and with a team; manage workload and prioritize tasks.
• Remain focused and composed in fast‑paced environments.

• Climb ladders.
• Apprehend subjects per company policy.
• Scan, handle, and move merchandise, lifting up to 40 pounds.
• Flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays).
• Work in varying environmental conditions.
• Remain mobile throughout shift.
