ABOUT

THE ROLE

A growing advanced manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Automation Maintenance Technician to support highly automated production and packaging operations. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing automated manufacturing systems to maximize equipment reliability, production uptime, and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate is a strong multi-craft maintenance professional with experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment, industrial controls, robotics, and continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced production environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain highly automated manufacturing and packaging equipment
  • Support automated material handling, conveying, processing, packaging, and robotic systems
  • Perform advanced mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and controls troubleshooting
  • Interface with PLC and HMI systems to diagnose equipment faults and support controls-level troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoot motors, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), sensors, conveyors, pumps, utility systems, and motion control equipment
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment layouts
  • Perform fabrication, mechanical modifications, and equipment assembly as needed
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
  • Support predictive maintenance programs
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Document work orders, equipment history, parts usage, and failure trends
  • Identify critical spare parts requirements and support inventory accuracy
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for equipment failures
  • Implement sustainable corrective actions that improve long‑term reliability
  • Improve equipment uptime, throughput, changeover efficiency, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Support equipment upgrades, automation improvements, and capital projects
  • Participate in equipment installation, commissioning, and startup activities
  • Assist with developing preventive maintenance procedures and troubleshooting standards
  • Train and mentor maintenance technicians and equipment operators
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Production to improve equipment performance
  • Promote teamwork and continuous improvement throughout the maintenance organization
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all electrical safety standards and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Maintain compliance with GMP, quality, and safety requirements
  • Promote a safe working environment
  • Immediately address conditions that could impact employee safety, equipment reliability, or product quality
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical or trade school education in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Automation, or related field preferred
  • Minimum five years of industrial maintenance experience supporting highly automated manufacturing operations
  • Strong multi‑craft maintenance skills including:
    • Mechanical systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Pneumatic systems
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC‑controlled manufacturing equipment
  • Working knowledge of:
    • PLC systems
    • HMI interfaces
    • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
    • Servo and motion control systems
    • Industrial sensors and automation components
  • Experience troubleshooting integrated manufacturing systems
