Lift Mechanics at Arapahoe Basin are responsible for the maintenance of all aerial tramways and surface lift equipment during our winter and summer seasons.
Responsibilities include being on site to assist other staff members with any lift issues as they arise as well as performing regularly scheduled maintenance and reporting on all aerial tramways and surface lifts in accordance with state and federal guidelines.

WAGE:The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high ends of Arapahoe Basin's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors , including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, and responsibilities. The range listed is just one component of Arapahoe Basin's total compensation package for employees.

Lift Mechanics are eligible for a staging program that relates to applicable pay based on experience. See below for specific details.
Hourly pay range: $21.50 - $25.75/ hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:- Carry out all work duties in accordance with ANSI B-77, and CPTSB regulations
- Pass a CPTSB Section 23 test
- Be familiar with "OSHA" Codes and protocols and "Lock-Out Tag Out" procedures
- Be familiar with "Confined Space" procedures to ensure a safe working environment at all times
- Be familiar with "Qualified Climber" and "Fall Protection" procedures and "Basic Safe Rigging Practices" and procedures
- Be familiar with "Lift Access Work Order System"
- Be familiar with "Maintenance Manuals" for each lift
- Be familiar with " Blue Prints " and how to read them
- Perform weekly and monthly inspections of lift machinery
- Assist with return and drive bullwheel hub purging; assist with bullwheel liner replacement
- Maintain and repair lift equipment; ensure efficient and safe operation of all lifts
- Perform daily start-up procedures; complete daily operation log for all lifts
- Perform daily AM/PM inspections on all lifts
- Check for abnormal sounds, appropriate fluid levels, other mechanical abnormalities throughout the course of daily work assignments
- Assist with weekly and monthly inspections of lift machinery
- Perform annually scheduled maintenance on all lifts as directed
- Be able to operate all A-Basin lifts on auxiliary power without assistance
- Operate (drive) all A-Basin lifts safely for line work
- Assist the work chair captain while performing line work
- Assist with grip and carrier inspection, general inspections, and Non-Destructive Testing
- Assist with haul rope inspection and lubrication
- Inspect and rebuild sheaves; replace bearings and liners
- Collaborate with the Lift Maintenance team and other A-Basin operations by assisting with ongoing training and supporting seasonal lift operators
- Safely operate a snowmobile, UTV, and other heavy machinery
- Assist Lift Mechanics with grip, chair, haul rope, carpet, and auxiliary maintenance as well as any electrical needs
- Follow all department sustainability guidelines as expected
- Other duties as assigned
- 1 year of previous lift operations or lift maintenance experience - required
- Ability and knowledge to operate basic hand and power tools
- Ability to identify all lift components and understand their purpose
- Knowledge of proper rigging procedures
- Basic math skills to apply the concepts of algebra and geometry to lift maintenance-related duties
- Must provide own ski equipment
- Must be available weekends and some holidays
- Must pass a motor vehicle record background check
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must pass certified climber training
- Ability to withstand high-altitude conditions at all times
