Onward Education is partnering with a school district in Adams
County (Thornton, CO) area to hire a full-time, on-site School Social Worker or School Psychologist for the school year
. This role supports students receiving mental health services through an IEP, with services and caseload needs varying by campus.

Brief Role Summary

In this position, you'll provide direct and indirect mental health and social-emotional services to students receiving special education supports. You may deliver 1:1 counseling, facilitate social skills groups, support crisis response, and contribute to evaluations and IEP documentation in the social-emotional domain. This is a collaborative, campus-based role working closely with special education teams, families, and school staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct mental health services aligned to IEP service minutes, including 1:1 sessions and small-group supports such as social skills groups.
  • Support students across a range of needs, commonly including mild-moderate, affective needs, and significant support needs when mental health services are part of the IEP.
  • Participate in crisis support as needed, following school and district procedures.
  • Conduct or contribute to social-emotional evaluations, and support IEP development and documentation.
  • Develop and/or support Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as appropriate.
  • Provide direct and indirect interventions, collaborating with educators and teams to implement supports.
  • Note:

    Caseload/service minutes may vary by campus; workload is influenced by building factors and provider coverage.
Qualifications:
  • Active Colorado licensure as a School Social Worker or School Psychologist.
  • SSP (Special Service Provider) credential, as required for the discipline.
  • Special Education experience preferred.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced school environment with strong collaboration, documentation, and student-centered communication.
