About the Role:
The Performance Automation team develops optimization tools that enhance our clients advertising campaigns, ensuring they meet or surpass KPIs. You will contribute to machine learning model development and build tools and frameworks that enable quicker iteration and refinement of models by data scientists, from ETLs that process petabytes of data to experimenting with novel model training architectures. You will integrate models into our bidding infrastructure where low latency and high performance are essential;
your code runs millions of times per second across datacenters worldwide.
You will also develop and improve debugging and analytical tools for monitoring and adjusting the bidding system in real time, using these tools to quickly identify and address issues, improve campaign efficiency, and optimize budgets and resources. Our Software Engineer II team members participate actively in all aspects of designing, building, and delivering products for our clients. We have dozens of mission-focused teams working on large-scale distributed systems, petabyte-scale data challenges, machine learning, advanced visualizations, and interactive user interfaces.

Trade Desk Software Engineers contribute to more than our product: they help grow our team through mentoring, technical leadership, and, when appropriate, direct management of small teams.
Who We Are Looking ForSkills And Experience
- 5+ years of demonstrated success in software development within high-scale enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience with multiple platforms and technologies, including:
PyTorch, Tensorflow, Spark, .NET Core, Java, SQL Server, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure - Excellent understanding of Agile development methodology and development practices
- Understanding of designing service-oriented systems
- Exposure to machine learning concepts and frameworks (a plus, but not required)
- Experience in building distributed systems and microservices

- The position is located in Boulder, CO and requires hybrid office attendance.

Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range for this role is $103,200—$189,200 USD, determined by experience and location. Eligible employees can participate in stock-based compensation and other benefits, including comprehensive healthcare, a 401k with company match, disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, tuition assistance reimbursement, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Employees may also purchase The Trade Desk stock at a discount via the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
