- 2 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages, or 1 year with an advanced degree (Python, R, SQL).
- 2 years of analytics experience solving product or business problems, including ETL/ELT and statistical analysis.
- Experience designing data pipelines and performing conceptual and physical data modeling.
- Experience in data warehouse design, data integration, data marts, and cross‑functional stakeholder collaboration.
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields.
- 2 years of experience in data structures and algorithms for scalable data architecture.
- Experience building accessible technologies balancing rapid experimentation with long‑term engineering.
- Knowledge of environmental data, carbon accounting, or data center energy efficiency.
- Strong domain knowledge of sustainability and renewable energy concepts.

As a Software Engineer in the Sustainability Data and Tech team, you will build data solutions that drive Google’s climate action goals, working on critical projects and collaborating across teams.
Responsibilities- Develop and optimize scalable data pipelines, integrations, and data mart solutions for sustainability datasets.
- Lead and participate in design reviews, selecting technologies that balance long‑term architecture with rapid iteration.
- Review code, provide feedback to ensure best practices across software and data domains.
- Contribute to documentation and educational content, adapting it to program updates.
- Triage product or system issues, debug, track, and resolve them, analyzing impacts on hardware, network, or service operations.
US: $147,000 – $211,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits.
