The Advanced Programs and Exploitation (APEX) team with Lockheed Martin in Boulder is looking for a research scientist to support ongoing programs and internal research and development efforts. The APEX team supports multiple programs related to mission processing applications of remote sensing payloads and multi‑int fusion.

• Work in coordination with research scientists, FPGA engineers, and software engineers for all activities required to develop, test, and deliver prototypes and fully capable systems.
• Work with software engineers to develop C++ and Python code.
• Perform data analysis to evaluate various mission processing solutions to determine the best one for various missions.
• Provide algorithm expertise (for detection, tracking and multi‑int fusion purposes).
• Optimize performance of a signal processing chain.
• Possibly work on AI/ML algorithm applications.

• Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a related technical field.
• Proficiency in MATLAB and another programming language.
• Ability to obtain a TS/SCI government security clearance.

• Active secret clearance.
• Proficiency in C++ & or Python.
• Linux OS background / experience developing in a Linux environment.
• Applied mathematics or algorithm development experience.
• Experience working with data structures.
• Strong experience in software design and development.
• Familiarity with tracking & or signal processing algorithms.
• Experience with containerization tools like Docker.
• Experience with a machine learning platform such as Tensor Flow, PyTorch, or Keras.
• Experience with machine learning for image segmentation and image generation.
• Experience with software vision control such as GIT.

This position requires a government security clearance (TS/SCI). The candidate must be a US citizen and capable of obtaining a TS/SCI clearance.

Annual base salary range for California, Massachusetts, New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington, or Washington DC is $62,700 - $110,630. Salary may vary based on location.

Onsite Full‑time at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. Work schedule includes a 9x80 schedule with every other Friday off.
