Software Engineer

Are you interested in the next generation of Space Force Remote Sensing capabilities? The SMX Space and Intelligence (S&I) Business Unit (BU) is on the ground floor across the future remote sensing ecosystem for all orbital regimes (LEO, MEO, HEO, and GEO). We are seeking a Software Engineer with strong C++ and Unreal Engine skills and an interest in people management to work on the FORGE MDPAP program as part of the Visualization subsystem team. Position is on-site in Boulder, CO 5 days per week.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain high-quality software aligned with program and project objectives.
• Work independently and collaboratively with the development team to deliver complex features end to end.
• Contribute to containerized, distributed microservice architectures, including development, deployment, and testing.

Required Skills & Experience

• This position requires an active Interim DoD Secret Clearance.
  
  Clearance required:
  
  Active DoD Secret. Due to the clearance requirement, U.S. Citizenship is required. Candidate must also participate in a background screen.
• 5+ years of professional hands-on experience as a Software Engineer using C++.
• Proficient in Unreal Engine, including language features and best practices.
• Professional experience working in Linux environments.
• Ability to work onsite in Boulder, CO 5 days per week.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, communication and attention to detail skills.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Familiarity with other programming languages such as Python or Java script/Typescript
• Experience with or interest in people management (up to 5 direct reports).
• Experience with Agile software development methodology and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Familiarity with Gitlab, Gitlab Runner, Docker, Kubernetes and Helm Charts.
• Domain experience with remote sensing systems or ground architectures, especially experience with OPIR sensor processing.
• Experience working on "badge-less" engineering teams on a large National security contract.
