We are looking for a Project Manager to join a growing carpentry firm that has over $25 million in backlog work!

This role oversees multiple interior construction and commercial fit-out projects from inception through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. The Construction Project Manager coordinates closely with clients, designers, subcontractors, and vendors, while maintaining detailed control over schedules, budgets, documentation, and on-site activities. The position combines hands-on construction knowledge with strong project management, communication, and client service skills in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

+ Manage multiple interior construction and commercial fit-out projects simultaneously, typically ranging from $100,000 to $1 million and involving approximately 5-12 active projects at a time.

+ Oversee all phases of interior construction projects, including planning, scheduling, execution, and closeout, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.

+ Coordinate daily with clients, designers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure project goals, scope, and expectations remain aligned throughout the project lifecycle.

+ Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules and budgets, tracking progress and costs to ensure projects remain on schedule and within financial targets.

+ Prepare, review, and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), Change Orders, and Submittals, ensuring all documentation is accurate, timely, and properly communicated.

+ Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, verify workmanship and quality, and ensure compliance with safety requirements and applicable building codes.

+ Identify potential project risks, issues, or delays early, and implement effective mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.

+ Ensure all necessary materials, equipment, and resources are procured and delivered on schedule, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors to avoid delays.

+ Lead and participate in project meetings, providing clear and regular updates to stakeholders on status, milestones, risks, and next steps.

+ Maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, providing a high level of customer service and acting as a primary point of contact throughout the project.

+ Review and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to guide construction activities and verify that work aligns with design intent.

+ Manage and track change orders, ensuring scope changes are documented, priced, approved, and incorporated into project schedules and budgets.

+ Coordinate and oversee subcontractors performing carpentry, millwork, drywall, painting, framing, and flooring work, ensuring quality and productivity.

+ Handle a high volume of projects and tasks concurrently, prioritizing effectively and following up consistently on bids, schedules, and open items.

+ Communicate clearly and professionally via phone, email, and in-person meetings, demonstrating strong follow-up and relationship-building skills.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in interior renovation and commercial fit-out projects.

+ Familiarity with carpentry, millwork, drywall, painting, framing, and flooring from a field or subcontractor perspective.

+ Ability to build rapport and maintain long-term relationships with clients, designers, and subcontractors.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bound Brook, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.26 - $52.88/hr.
