Title

Qualifications- Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate with grade level and/or content area endorsement and Bilingual Education Endorsement or eligibility.
- Demonstrated language proficiency and knowledge of effective teaching methods.
- Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Required criminal history background check.
- Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

SupervisesPupils, and when assigned, student teachers and classroom aides.
Job GoalTo provide an approved bilingual education program that fosters English proficiency, academic learning and personal growth.
Responsibilities- Work to achieve state core curriculum content standards, district goals and objectives by promoting active learning in the classroom using board‑adopted curriculum and other appropriate learning activities.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide opportunities for individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each pupil’s needs.
- Set specific objectives in lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans and carry through presentation to effectively achieve these objectives.
- Participate in assessment of English proficiency of pupils whose native language is other than English; help identify pupils eligible for bilingual education and/or English as a Second Language programs or other services.
- Assess pupil academic progress, English proficiency and personal growth toward stated objectives annually; determine pupils ready to exit the bilingual/ESL program.
- Maintain records of pupils’ educational progress in record books or board‑approved forms and summarize these marks for reporting purposes.
- Identify academic and support services needs of limited English proficient pupils and cooperate with other professional staff members to assess and resolve learning problems.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning.
- Budget class time effectively.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to inform them about the school program, discuss pupil progress and encourage their involvement in reviewing program objectives; work cooperatively with the district’s bilingual parent advisory committee.
- Devises written and oral assignments and tests that require analytical and critical thinking.
- Supervise pupils in out‑of‑classroom activities as assigned.
- Maintain professional competence and pursue continuous improvement through in‑service education and other professional growth activities.
- Participate in school‑level planning, faculty meetings/committees and other school system groups.
- Make effective use of community resources to enhance the instructional program.
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.
- Perform other duties within the scope of employment and certification as may be assigned.
Work year and salary to be determined by the board.
EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated annually in accordance with state law and the board’s policy on evaluation of certified staff.
Salary and BenefitsSalary follows the established BBEA Salary Guide, ranging from $61,825 to $105,620.
Full‑time staff are eligible for medical, prescription, and dental benefits. Sick, personal, serious family illness, and bereavement days are included.
