Position Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Facilities, to maintain school buildings and grounds in an orderly, neat, safe, and operable condition.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform tasks to keep school buildings and grounds in neat, clean condition, such as trash disposal, bathroom and floor cleaning, window washing, dusting, mowing, and related tasks.
- Maintain buildings and grounds in safe, operable condition, including minor repairs, snow and ice removal, and related tasks.
- Inspect equipment and facilities, recommending repairs or replacements as needed.
- Regulate HVAC systems to ensure appropriate temperatures and efficient energy use.
- Check all building entrances/exits for proper operation.
- Open and close buildings, ensuring doors and windows are secured.
- Maintain mechanical equipment and schedule servicing.
- Obtain necessary tools, equipment, and materials for work tasks.
- Maintain inventory of supplies, materials, and fuel, and manage orders.
- Document work and repairs through records.
Additional Duties
Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Equipment
Use hand tools and power equipment such as saws, drills, routers, sanders, jointers, and stationary power tools.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical trades, and related standards and codes.
- Understanding of safety laws and regulations.
- Ability to follow work orders and coordinate with others.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and cooperative working relationships.
Safety Requirements
- Follow safety rules and wear appropriate gear.
Travel Requirements
Frequent travel between schools and central offices may be required.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Work at heights, in crawl spaces, and in various weather conditions.
- Occasional strenuous physical work.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in maintenance and repair.
- Valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license or own transportation.
Salary: $40,925 to $63,730 based on BBEA Salary Guide.
