Position Purpose

Drives business results, directs team talent, supports the store leadership team, and ensures delivery of the legendary L.L.Bean customer experience within an outdoor lifestyle concept retail store. The anticipated base pay range for this Store Team Leader or Retail Operations position is between $21.64 and $27.05 hourly, based on experience, qualifications, and performance.

Responsibilities Operations
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient stock room while adhering to operating standards and safety requirements.
  • Manage inbound freight processing per SOP, completing all shipments within 24 hours of delivery.
  • Collaborate with other leaders to replenish sales floor stock and move replenishment truck product to the floor.
  • Oversee and manage return processes following standard operating practices, assigning proper quality codes.
  • Execute store‑to‑store and store‑to‑warehouse transfers in a timely manner.
  • Execute all aspects of omni‑channel business, including BOPIS, BOSFS, BISSO, and phone call management.
  • Adhere to all loss prevention policies and procedures, inspecting the back‑of‑house and sales floor space for compliance.
  • Model safe behaviors, evaluate risk and ensure safety remains a top priority; may serve as safety contact or liaison.
Customer Experience
  • Model and foster an environment where service is the top priority.
  • Enthusiastically seek opportunities to convert every customer that enters the store, continually striving to drive sales and brand loyalty through great service.
  • Lead the rep team toward shared objectives, acting as Leader on Duty to drive conversion and sales.
  • Leverage business reports (Qualtrics, variance reporting, merchandise group sales) to analyze trends and identify opportunities.
  • Build actions to enhance customer loyalty and improve service metrics through business analysis.
  • Implement recognition programs, living‑the‑legend efforts, in‑store contests, etc.
  • Review forward‑looking events (holidays, promotional weekends, market trends) and develop meaningful activations and selling efforts.
  • Ensure the sales floor is fully stocked, all sizes represented, and conduct regular size audits.
  • Provide superior fitting‑room service to drive conversion and UPT.
Training
  • Support and train associates, communicating standards and processes, company policies and procedures.
  • Deliver GUIDE training for new hires and ongoing training for all year‑round team members.
  • Help store champions (buddies) and experts develop and maintain high performance.
  • Facilitate new‑hire product training modules and develop seasonal product training materials.
  • Manage employee‑facing communication, including break room messaging and communication boards.
  • Ensure start‑up meetings are compelling and inspiring.
Total Store Accountability
  • Serve as key holder; potential opener/closer when required.
  • Prepare & communicate daily task responsibilities to staff.
  • Recommend adjustments to staffing levels/schedules to meet work requirements.
  • Address and respond to employee issues/conflicts within defined parameters and under direction of supervisor.
  • Provide in‑the‑moment input, feedback, and coaching; hand off performance concerns to store management.
  • Contribute to peak planning preparation and readiness.
  • Own expense management, ensuring proper use of resources and adherence to budgetary guidelines, with a focus on payroll management.
  • Participate actively in health and safety; report unsafe conditions and conduct work in a safe manner.
  • Maintain the cash office per policy, ensuring accurate reconciliation and organization.
  • Keep the service hub stocked, free of clutter, and operating effectively.
  • Accountable for cashier execution and efficiency focusing on service delivery.
