Warehouse & Inventory Manager

Position Summary

The Warehouse & Inventory Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation, organization, and efficiency of the company’s warehouse supporting plumbing, sewer, and excavation operations. This role oversees inventory control, receiving, storage, cleanliness, and workflow while ensuring materials are accurately tracked, replenished on time, and readily available for field crews. The Warehouse & Inventory Manager leads warehouse staff, maintains safety standards, and continuously improves processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
  • Oversee all warehouse operations for an 8,000 sq. ft. facility
  • Ensure the warehouse is clean, organized, and maintained at all times
  • Implement and enforce safety procedures and proper material handling practices
  • Coordinate layout, storage systems, and labeling for efficient material flow
  • Ensure materials and equipment are staged and accessible for daily field operations
Inventory Management
  • Receive, inspect, and verify all incoming shipments for accuracy and condition
  • Track all inventory using Service Titan / PLY systems
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts through regular cycle counts and audits
  • Monitor stock levels and request replenishment when inventory is low
  • Identify slow-moving, obsolete, or critical inventory items
  • Ensure proper documentation of all inventory transactions
Equipment Control & Accountability
  • Oversee the sign-out and return of all tools, equipment, and assets
  • Maintain accurate records identifying where equipment is at all times, including current job location and assigned employee
  • Track who last used each piece of equipment and verify condition upon return
  • Identify missing, damaged, or unreturned equipment promptly
  • Report lost, stolen, or unaccounted-for equipment immediately to the supervisor
  • Work with operations and field supervisors to improve equipment tracking and accountability
Staff Management
  • Supervise and manage the Warehouse Clerk
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor productivity
  • Train staff on inventory systems, warehouse procedures, and safety standards
  • Hold staff accountable for accuracy, cleanliness, and performance
Process Improvement
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend new processes or systems to improve workflow
  • Assist with implementation of new technology or procedures
  • Maintain consistency and standardization across warehouse operations
Coordination & Communication
  • Work closely with operations, dispatch, purchasing, and field supervisors
  • Ensure materials are ready and available to support scheduled jobs
  • Communicate inventory issues, shortages, or delays proactively
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry 100+ lbs
  • Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, pushing, and pulling
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to work in an active warehouse environment
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience managing a warehouse or inventory operation (construction, plumbing, sewer, or excavation industry preferred)
  • Strong technical aptitude and comfort learning new systems
  • Experience using inventory management software (Service Titan / PLY preferred)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to lead and manage staff effectively
  • Proactive problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset
Preferred Qualifications
  • Forklift or equipment operation experience
  • Knowledge of plumbing, sewer, and excavation materials and equipment
  • Experience implementing or improving warehouse systems or processes
