Senior Accountant ​/ Controller

We own and operate a portfolio of businesses across telecommunications, internet services, and retail — including a regional fiber ISP, hosted voice and communications providers, an internet exchange, and multi-location retail franchises. We are hiring a Senior Accountant / Controller to own the accounting function across all entities and grow into a CFO-level role.

This is a hands‑on position with a clear path to CFO. The right candidate is equally comfortable reconciling a transaction, closing the books across multiple entities, and sitting at the table for capital, tax, and acquisition decisions. You will be the financial voice across the portfolio rather than one of many in a single department.

• Maintain full-cycle accounting across multiple operating entities (telecom, services, retail).
• Manage AP/AR, payroll oversight, and bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Close the books monthly — clean, timely, per entity and consolidated.
• Maintain inter-company accounting and eliminations.

• Produce monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements per entity and consolidated.
• Track KPIs that matter for each business (subscriber economics for the ISP, same‑store sales for retail, etc.).
• Variance analysis against budget and prior periods.

• Cash flow forecasting and treasury management across entities.
• Annual budgeting and rolling forecasts.
• Coordinate with outside CPAs on tax strategy, returns, and entity structure.
• Support due diligence on acquisitions, financing, and capital projects.
• Manage banking relationships, debt covenants, and lender reporting.
• Oversee insurance, licensing, and regulatory financial filings.

• 5+ years of accounting experience, including multi-entity environments.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
• Demonstrated ability to close books cleanly and on time.
• Proficiency with Quick Books (Online and/or Desktop) and Excel.
• Ability to work independently and own outcomes end‑to‑end.

• CPA license (or actively pursuing).
• Prior controller or assistant controller experience.
• Experience with telecom, ISP, SaaS recurring revenue, or retail/franchise accounting.
• Experience consolidating multiple entities and inter‑company transactions.
• Familiarity with sales/use tax, telecom‑specific taxes (USF, E911, regulatory fees), or multi‑jurisdiction retail sales tax.
• Comfort with ERP transitions or implementing new financial systems.
