Provide outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and maintain a safe and clean store environment.
Job OverviewCourtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger responsible for bagging groceries at checkout, ensuring items are not damaged, assisting customers with loading bags, performing basic shelf conditioning, informing customers of specials, and maintaining store cleanliness and safety.
Essential Job Functions- Bag groceries at checkout, aiming for at least five items per bag without damage.
- Follow best practices for selecting reusable, plastic, or paper bags.
- Assist customers with removing merchandise from baskets during checkout.
- Offer to help customers with loading bags into their vehicles.
- Perform basic shelf conditioning and return merchandise to shelves.
- Inform customers of grocery specials.
- Clean spills, collect trash inside store and parking lot.
- Maintain cleanliness inside and outside the store, including seasonal merchandise.
- Understand store layout, locate products, conduct price checks.
- Reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions and notify management.
- Adhere to food‑safety regulations and guidelines.
- Inspect equipment and notify appropriate department of repairs.
- Create a welcoming environment and answer product questions.
- Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
- Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict reasonably, non‑confrontationally.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
- Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Customer‑service skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Retail experience preferred but not required.
