A global life sciences manufacturing organization is seeking an EHS Specialist (Contractor Safety) to support operations at its Bourbonnais, IL area site. This person will be tasked with strengthening environmental, health, and safety programs while ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide standards and regulatory requirements. The role offers strong visibility across capital projects and site operations, with an emphasis on driving compliance, risk reduction, and continuous improvement.
It’s a great opportunity for an experienced EHS professional to influence both day-to-day operations and large-scale expansion initiatives.
- Lead and sustain site-wide EHS programs, ensuring alignment with corporate systems (e.g., EHS platforms, SDS, and change management processes).
- Oversee incident investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and trend reporting to stakeholders.
- Support construction and contractor safety programs, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation across capital projects.
- Act as an EHS subject matter expert for project reviews, ensuring safety requirements are embedded in design, permitting, and execution.
- Monitor regulatory compliance (OSHA and environmental standards), conduct audits, and guide industrial hygiene assessments and improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field; advanced degree or certifications (CSP, OSHA, etc.) preferred.
- 5–7 years of EHS experience within biotech, pharmaceutical, or chemical manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and EHS management systems (ISO 14001/45001), with hands‑on audit and compliance experience.
- Proven ability to influence cross‑functional teams, manage multiple priorities, and drive safety initiatives in fast‑paced environments.
- Experience with EHS systems, data analysis, and continuous improvement practices, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
