Chief Financial Officer

Overview

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the Sheriff’s Executive Team, providing strategic financial leadership and serving as the agency’s principal financial advisor. This position oversees budgeting, accounting, payroll, procurement, financial reporting, audits, forecasting, internal controls, and long-term financial planning while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

• Lead development and management of the agency's annual budget and long-range financial plans.
• Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
• Oversee accounting, payroll, procurement, contracts, audits, and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, government regulations, and internal controls.
• Manage cash flow, financial forecasting, capital planning, and asset management.
• Supervise finance staff and drive continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.
• Serve as liaison to auditors, banks, and state and federal funding agencies.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with 10 years of governmental accounting experience, including 4 years of supervisory experience; or
• Master’s degree in Accounting or related field with 7 years of governmental accounting experience, including 4 years of supervisory experience.

• CPA, CIA, CGFO, CGFM, or similar professional certification.
• Experience with governmental budgeting, payroll, procurement, contract management, and financial reporting.
• Experience with Workday Financial Management, MOSAIC, HR/CMS, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience in a complex public‑sector or municipal environment.
