Position Overview
A precision manufacturing company is seeking a highly skilled CNC Programmer / Manufacturing Engineer to join its fast‑paced, dynamic job‑shop environment. This role focuses on programming multi‑axis CNC mills and lathes, optimizing machining processes, and supporting production teams to ensure efficient, accurate, and repeatable manufacturing of complex components.
The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, technically strong, and comfortable working with engineering models, CAM software, and shop‑floor personnel to deliver high‑quality results.
Key Responsibilities- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and customer specifications to plan and program CNC machining operations.
- Create, revise, and optimize CNC programs to improve quality, reduce cycle time, and enhance tool life.
- Determine manufacturing methods from drawings and solid models, including tool selection and work‑holding strategies.
- Use CAMWorks, Mastercam, or similar CAM software to generate accurate toolpaths for multi‑axis CNC equipment.
- Collaborate with engineering, tooling, and production teams to refine machining processes, including fixture and tool design.
- Support machine operators by troubleshooting programs, resolving machining issues, and improving workflow efficiency.
- Maintain accurate documentation such as setup sheets, program files, process travelers, inspection plans, and revision histories.
- Perform or oversee first‑article inspections to ensure new jobs meet dimensional and quality requirements.
- Train operators on new programs, procedures, and best practices as needed.
- Proficiency in CNC programming using CAM software and strong understanding of machining processes.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, GD&T, and material specifications.
- Experience with CNC machine setup and operation; manual machining experience is helpful but not required.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
- Proficiency with inspection tools and technical documentation.
- Solid math, technical, and computer skills.
- Strong communication, organization, and time‑management abilities.
- Physical dexterity and stamina for occasional shop‑floor duties.
