Mobile Vehicle Technician

Role Summary

Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in our SMR Division – a new era of mobile repair. A competitive base salary of £40,178 with on‑target earnings of up to £52,000. A guaranteed overtime option increases your base salary to £44,385, plus additional overtime and bonus opportunities. Work 40 hours per week with core hours from 8:30am to 5:00pm and one Saturday in every four.

You’ll be part of the Bournemouth cluster, covering areas such as Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Wimborne, Ringwood, Wareham and Swanage. You’ll work out on the road in your local area, following a clearly planned schedule of appointments – no reactive callouts, just organised, pre‑booked work.

• Routine servicing
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
• In‑depth repairs normally done in a workshop
• Member advice and recommendations based on inspection
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards

From day one you’ll receive everything you need: a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics.

The ideal role for techs who want variety and independence without the reactive nature of patrol.

Either:

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience
• 5+ years’ experience as a vehicle technician/ mechanic

Enjoy a market‑competitive base salary of £40,170, with the opportunity to increase your earnings up to £52,000 through bonuses and premium‑rate overtime. A full‑time 40‑hour week, with Monday–Saturday availability (8am–8pm), offers flexibility and stability.

After your first month, you can choose to work extra rest days at £30 per hour. One extra day a month could earn you £3,000 more per year on top of your base salary; two extra days could give you an extra £5,000.
