** Lane Rental Streetworks Inspector
** to join our Highway Network Management Team and play a key role in helping keep Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole moving.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Council's Lane Rental Scheme, working with utility companies, contractors, developers and highway colleagues to reduce disruption, improve traffic flow and ensure works on the highway are carried out efficiently and safely.

The successful candidate will undertake inspections of street works and road works activities, monitor compliance with permits and lane rental requirements, and help deliver our statutory network management duties under the Traffic Management Act 2004.If you have experience in street works, highways, utilities or network management and are passionate about improving the highway network for residents, businesses and visitors, we'd love to hear from you.
** What You'll Be Doing
*** Carrying out inspections of lane rental and street works activities across the BCP highway network.
* Monitoring compliance with permit conditions, traffic management requirements and lane rental regulations.
* Working closely with utility companies and contractors to minimise disruption and reduce occupation of the highway.
* Investigating potential breaches and gathering evidence where non-compliance is identified.
* Recording inspections and producing reports using the Council's street works management systems.
* Supporting performance monitoring and continuous improvement of the Lane Rental Scheme.
* Contributing to the Council's Network Management Duty by helping to reduce congestion and improve journey reliability.
* This role is a full-time post of 37 hours per week; this will include some requirement for weekend working & out of hours working during the week.
** About You
** You will be a confident communicator with the ability to build positive working relationships whilst also challenging non-compliance where necessary.

You will have:

** Essential
* ** Experience working within street works, highways, utilities or network management.
* Knowledge of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA), Traffic Management Act 2004 and permit schemes.
* Experience undertaking inspections, compliance monitoring or highway enforcement activities.
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
* Good IT skills and experience of maintaining accurate records.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Be willing to work out of hours & weekends, on occasions & when required, as part of your 37 hour week
** Desirable
* ** NRSWA Inspector and/or Supervisor Accreditation.
* Experience using Symology Aurora, Street Manager or similar systems.
* Knowledge of Lane Rental Schemes and associated legislation.
* Experience working within a local authority highways environment.
