Duties and Responsibilities- Greets customers in person and by phone, answers question, and addresses concerns.
- Maintains a positive attitude with students, faculty, staff,and coworkers.
- Communicates concerns to management and follow-up on customer issues.
- Performs cashiering activities such as completing check, cash,credit card transactions, issuing receipts, and balancing registers and receipts.
- Ensures proper handling and safeguards in processing customertransactions. Examines currency and checks to detectcounterfeiting, forgery or damaged money.
- Prepares currency for bank deposits or transfers such asendorsing checks, tallying totals of cash, charges and checksreceived and preparing bank deposit slips.
- Operates automated equipment such as cash registers, chargeterminals, computer terminals and other manual and automated office equipment.
- General advisement in all aspects of student financial servicesi.e. installment payment plans, fee payment, fee payment deadlines,refunds, dishonored, third-party billing, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
These are the job duties for required of the position
EducationHigh school diploma or GED required.
ExperienceMinimum one (1) year of accounting/cashiering experience required.
KnowledgeSkills and Abilities
- General knowledge of cashiering function
- Working knowledge of general accounting principles and procedures used in financial record keeping.
- Skilled in making accurate monetary transactions; in performingmathematical computations i.e. account reconciliation.
- Ability to prepare written records and reports; to operatekeyboards and calculators; to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers (i.e. students, staff, faculty and the general public); to operate manual and automated office equipment,computer literacy required. People Soft ERP experience a PLUS butnot required.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment and multi-tasks as necessary.
