Assistant Controller
A rapidly growing organization is seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller to strengthen its accounting leadership team. This newly created position will oversee revenue and contract accounting while helping the organization enhance reporting, budgeting, workforce planning, and financial controls.

ScheduleOnsite 5x a week the first 90 days; hybrid thereafter with three days onsite and two days remote
Typical Hours7:00 AM–4:00 PM

Required Qualifications- Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience
- Manufacturing, construction, or contracting industry experience with hands-on WIP accounting required
- Strong knowledge of revenue recognition, contract accounting, job costing, and percentage-of-completion accounting
- Experience preparing and analyzing WIP schedules
- Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, dashboard development, management reporting, and workforce planning
- Experience supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
- Strong understanding of SOX compliance and internal controls
- Ability to operate effectively in a high-volume, rapidly growing environment
- Strong cross-functional communication and leadership skills
- Willingness to work onsite during the first 90 days and follow a hybrid schedule thereafter
- Oversee revenue accounting and revenue-recognition processes
- Manage contract accounting and work-in-progress reporting
- Prepare and analyze WIP schedules, job costs, backlog, project profitability, and percentage-of-completion calculations
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and workforce-planning initiatives
- Develop financial dashboards, management reports, and reporting tools
- Analyze financial results and explain budget-to-actual and project-level variances
- Partner with operations and project leadership to evaluate project performance
- Strengthen SOX compliance, internal controls, and accounting procedures
- Identify opportunities to improve and scale accounting processes
- Support external audits and other compliance initiatives
- Assist with growth-related accounting and strategic finance projects
- Experience with in an electrical or mechanical contracting organization
- CPA or master's degree preferred; candidates without either may be considered if they meet the remaining requirements
- Experience with Vista by Viewpoint
