Recently named by Newsweek as one of the Best American Mid-Sized Workplaces in 2026, Rohde & Schwarz is seeking a Transportation/Logistics Business Analyst to analyze transportation costs, performance, data, and network opportunities across a complex, high-value logistics environment. This strictly analytical role supports air, ocean, truckload, LTL, expedited/hotshot, custom crating, secure logistics, and other transportation modes. The analyst will develop performance metrics, work on analytical projects, identify cost and process improvements, and provide data-driven recommendations to logistics leadership and cross-functional teams.
This position does not include shipment booking, tendering, shipment tracking, carrier management, or other transportation execution responsibilities. All responsibilities are analytical and strategic in nature. This position must be based in Frederick, MD;
Columbia, MD; or Coppell, TX.
- Analyze transportation spend, cost drivers, accessorials, rate variances, expedited freight, and service costs; identify savings and cost-avoidance opportunities.
- Support transportation RFPs, carrier benchmarking, lane optimization, cost-to-serve analysis, total landed cost modeling, and network optimization initiatives.
- Develop and maintain transportation KPIs and reporting related to delivery performance, transit variability, claims, damage, packaging, crating, handling, and overall logistics quality.
- Perform root-cause analysis of service failures, cost variances, data issues, and performance gaps; recommend corrective actions without operational execution responsibility.
- Evaluate volume growth, capacity, consolidation, mode-shift, standardization, scalability, and other transportation network opportunities.
- Design and maintain dashboards and standardized reports using data from SAP/ERP, transportation management, carrier, freight audit, and other logistics systems.
- Improve data quality, governance, reporting standards, metric definitions, and performance visibility across logistics datasets.
- Analyze high-value, export-controlled, and secure shipment data to support audit readiness, traceability, compliance, and transportation risk monitoring.
- Provide analytical support for strategic logistics initiatives, network changes, and continuous improvement projects.
- Collaborate with Logistics Operations, Procurement, Finance, Engineering, Production, Program Management, Trade Compliance, and other stakeholders.
- Present findings, business cases, and recommendations to leadership and provide guidance to analysts and business partners as appropriate.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field
- At least three years of experience in transportation analytics, supply chain analytics, logistics finance, business intelligence, or a related field
- Experience analyzing transportation spend, logistics performance, cost structures, and operational data across multiple modes
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems, transportation management systems, carrier platforms, freight audit systems, or related technologies
- Strong understanding of transportation modes, pricing structures, accessorials, carrier performance, logistics KPIs, and network design
- Experience developing cost-to-serve, total landed cost, capacity, network optimization, or similar analytical models
- Experience validating complex datasets and improving data governance, reporting standards, and data quality
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, financial modeling, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional projects, influence decisions without direct authority, and translate complex data into clear recommendations
- Ability to work independently with large, complex, and global logistics datasets
- In order to be considered, candidates must reside in the US and have valid US work authorization
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in high-tech manufacturing, aerospace, defense, electronics, or another regulated industry
- Experience with high-value, export-controlled, secure, or government-related logistics programs
- Familiarity with ITAR, EAR, transportation security, audit, and traceability requirements
