Support students with significant instructional and behavioral needs in a structured learning environment. This role provides direct classroom assistance, supports instructional routines, and helps ensure a safe, positive, and productive learning space for all students.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required
Ability to obtain a Texas Educational Aide Certificate (certification may be obtained through the District)
Completion of the Para Skills Course through STEDI.org (course will be purchased by the District)
Experience working with children preferred (especially in special education or behavior support environments)
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Key Responsibilities Instructional SupportAssist teachers with classroom preparation and instructional activities
Work individually or in small groups with students to reinforce lessons
Support implementation of structured routines and individualized learning strategies
Assist with student assessments and documentation as directed
Student Behavior & SupportSupport students with behavioral, emotional, or developmental needs
Implement behavior plans and classroom expectations consistently
Monitor students for safety and report concerns promptly
Help maintain a positive, structured classroom environment
Supervision & Campus DutiesSupervise students throughout the school day (classroom, lunch, recess, transitions)
Assist during arrival, dismissal, and student movement throughout campus
Ensure students follow school procedures and safety protocols
Classroom ManagementOrganize instructional materials and maintain classroom order
Assist with inventory and care of classroom equipment
Keep instructional areas clean and organized
Professional EngagementParticipate in staff development and team meetings
Support special events and campus activities as assigned
Collaborate effectively with teachers, specialists, and administrators
Physical & Mental DemandsFrequent standing, bending, walking, and lifting light classroom materials
Maintain emotional control in stressful or high-need situations
Ability to respond quickly in behavior-intervention scenarios
