Fluency Instructional Aide (Fluency Para/Aide)
Position Overview
Greenville ISD is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Fluency Instructional Aide to support literacy development at Bowie Elementary, a Dual Language (Two-Way) campus. This position works directly with students to strengthen reading fluency, accuracy, and comprehension through structured, targeted small-group and individual support.
Primary PurposeProvide supplemental literacy support to students by reinforcing foundational reading skills and fluency in alignment with district curriculum, TEKS, and campus literacy initiatives.
QualificationsEducation / Certification:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Complete the Stedi.org Para Skills Course (paid for by District)
- Ability to obtain a Texas Educational Aide Certificate (certification may be obtained through the District)
Skills:
- Strong understanding of foundational reading skills and literacy development
- Ability to work with small groups and individual students
- Clear communication skills and positive rapport with elementary students
- Ability to follow structured reading intervention programs
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Experience working with elementary students preferred
- Experience supporting literacy instruction or intervention preferred
Instructional Support – Literacy & Fluency
- Work with individual students and small groups to build reading fluency and comprehension
- Reinforce phonics, vocabulary, and decoding strategies as directed by the classroom teacher or interventionist
- Implement structured literacy routines aligned with district expectations
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers
- Support literacy instruction within the campus Dual Language (Two-Way) model
- Reinforce biliteracy goals as assigned
- Assist with preparation of instructional materials
- Maintain organized literacy materials and resources
- Participate in literacy training and professional development
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, interventionists, and campus staff
- Perform other duties as assigned to support student literacy growth
Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and light lifting of classroom materials
- Ability to maintain patience and emotional control in a structured literacy setting
