Job DescriptionThe AI/ML Instructor/Developer provides expert instruction and develops comprehensive curricula in artificial intelligence and machine learning to support workforce education and mission readiness. This role combines technical subject matter expertise with instructional delivery and curriculum development responsibilities, ensuring training content is accurate, current, pedagogically sound, and aligned with Department of War (DoW) training standards and operational requirements.
- Deliver instructor‑led, virtual, and blended training in artificial intelligence and machine learning topics to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Design, develop, and maintain AI/ML curricula, including course outlines, lesson plans, learning objectives, assessments, labs, and instructional materials.
- Apply instructional systems design (ISD) principles (e.g., ADDIE) to ensure training effectiveness and learner engagement.
- Translate complex AI/ML concepts (e.g., data preparation, supervised and unsupervised learning, neural networks, model evaluation, MLOps, ethics) into clear, mission‑relevant instruction.
- Develop and facilitate hands‑on exercises, demonstrations, and labs using approved AI/ML tools, platforms, and datasets.
- Collaborate with Instructional Systems Designers (ISDs), Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and stakeholders to align curriculum with performance objectives and workforce competencies.
- Evaluate learner performance and training effectiveness; revise curriculum and instructional approaches based on feedback and outcomes.
- Ensure instructional materials comply with DoW policies, accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508), and information security requirements.
- Stay current with advances in AI/ML technologies and best practices and incorporate relevant updates into training content.
- Support instructor preparation, pilot deliveries, and sustainment of AI/ML training programs.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, Education, or a related field.
- 6+ years of combined experience in AI/ML technical work and technical instruction or curriculum development.
- Demonstrated experience teaching or developing curriculum in AI/ML or related technical domains.
- Proficiency with common AI/ML tools, frameworks, or platforms (e.g., Python‑based ML libraries, cloud or on‑prem environments).
- Master's degree in AI, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Education, or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting DoW or federal training programs.
- Formal instructor certification or teaching experience in adult or technical education.
- Experience developing hands‑on labs, simulations, or project‑based learning.
- Knowledge of responsible AI, ethics, and governance principles.
Compensation Range: $170,000 - $210,000. Compensation ranges encompass a total compensation package and are a general guideline only. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several factors, including position level, job responsibilities, location, and candidate qualifications. Additional benefits include medical insurance, life insurance, disability, paid time off, maternity/paternity leave, 401(k) company match, and training/education reimbursements.
