Duties and Responsibilities

Teach African American history survey courses ( HIST 114: African American History to 1865 and HIST 115: African American Historysince 1865). The standard teaching load is 4 classes/12 credit hours per semester. In addition, the candidate is expected toperform advisement and programmatic duties and scholarly work thatadds to the growth and maintenance of the department and itsstudents.

Conditions of Employment

Experience

Teaching experience in African American history (or related topic) is preferred. Experience integrating technology into the teachingprocess.

Education

A Ph.D. in History (focus on African American history or related discipline).

Knowledge

Skills and Abilities

Effective communication skills are essential as well as the ability and commitment to educate diverse college students. Must have astrong ability and commitment to embrace innovative teaching and technology applications in the classroom.

The ability to work with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
