Job Description:

The Associate Director of Counseling Psychology performs coordination of site operations including marketing and outreach. This position assists in overseeing professional standards and curriculum offering for the cohorts that will begin in Fall 2022. This position also contributes to the overall success of the Counseling Psychology Program and the addictions certificate. This position reports to the Department Chair, Dean on the BSU Main Campus, Program Coordnator, with connection to Shady Grove administrators as appropriate.

Responsibilities
  • Provides coordination of site operations for the Counseling Psychology and Addictions Certificate
  • Works with the Counseling Psychology Program Coordinator on the Main Campus
  • Provides Advisement to students in the program
  • Provides support to the Cohorts that enter the program
  • Provides curriculum offerings for the Shady Grove Campus
  • Provides Outreach to the Schools and Community to look for possible students for the cohort
  • Maintains appropriate community relationships
  • Provides marketing materials and open houses to recruit students for the cohorts
  • Meets with the Coordinator for Counseling Psychology, Director of Continuing Education, Department Chair and the Dean on the main campus as necessary to keep them apprised of the Shady Grove guidelines and program needs
  • Stays abreast of emerging issues in Counseling
  • Participates in the planning and usage of the Shady Grove Budget for needs such as program marketing and/or other instructional needs of the program
  • Requests, allocates and manages resources required to accomplish department goals and objectives
  • Keeps the guidelines of the program of the main campus
  • Attends orientation and faculty meetings as necessary
  • Completes duties and responsibilities in compliance with all standards, policies, and guidelines that apply to Shady Grove campus
  • Addresses all student issues in a professional and timely manner, and in accordance with institutional policies and procedures and make referrals as necessary
  • Provides service and excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate Degree in Mental Health Counseling, Psychology or related field
  • Full-time or Adjunct teaching experience in higher education and Experience working as a Counselor in the State of Maryland
  • Communication – able to effectively communicate in a professional, diplomatic, empathetic and tactful manner using preferred methods and levels as applicable to the job
  • Critical Thinking & Judgement - able to make well-reasoned, sensible, and timely decisions based on careful, objective review and informed analysis of available information, considerations, and other factors
  • Relationship Management – able to personally provide a high level of interactive service to others, building relationships and addressing identified needs
  • Leadership – has demonstrated success as an entrepreneurial, high energy, driven, hands-on leader. Possess expertise in selecting, training, developing, coaching, mentoring, and retaining a highly motivated workforce
  • Team Orientation & Interpersonal – highly motivated team player with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels within and external to the organization
  • Problem Solving – proven skills in identifying issues, determining their cause, developing creative solutions, and following through with implementing resolutions
