Duties and Responsibilities

Nursing faculty teach in the classroom and conduct clinical teaching. Research and publications are expected for tenure and promotion. Other areas of responsibility include curriculum development; participate in departmental and college-wide activities and committees, such as, grant writing, assessment, faculty development, mentoring student projects, and academic advisement.

Experience

Strong preference will be given to candidates with didactic experience in the main area of teaching at the collegiate level. A strong, demonstrated record of clinical expertise, experience with assessment and evaluation of student learning outcomes is required. Expertise in primary care throughout the lifespan is required. Experience with total program evaluation and accreditation preferred. Must hold a current or be eligible for an unencumbered license to practice nursing in Maryland, Washington, DC, or a compact state.

Evidence of an active record of scholarship and service at the program, department and university level preferred.

Education

Master’s Degree in Nursing required. Doctorate in Nursing or other related area required. Must have expertise in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.
