Outpatient Mental Health Therapist – Behavioral Health

Columbia Mental Health seeks a compassionate Mental Health Therapist to provide outpatient psychotherapy to diverse adults, adolescents, and families in North Bethesda. You will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based individual and group therapy for mood, anxiety, trauma-related, and other psychiatric conditions. Collaborating with psychiatrists and an interdisciplinary team, you will monitor progress, document care, coordinate crisis intervention, and engage in case consultation.

The role offers regular supervision, CEU support, and opportunities to contribute to program development in an inclusive, learning-focused environment.

• Provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy to diverse clients
• Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and establish diagnoses
• Develop and update individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
• Collaborate with psychiatrists and interdisciplinary team on care coordination
• Monitor clinical progress and adjust interventions as needed
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and treatment records
• Provide crisis assessment, safety planning, and intervention when needed
• Participate in supervision, case consultation, and team meetings
• Educate clients and families on diagnoses, coping skills, and resources
• Contribute to program improvement and quality-of-care initiatives
• Psychotherapy and counseling techniques
• Diagnostic assessment and formulation (DSM-5)
• Treatment planning and clinical documentation
• Crisis assessment and intervention
• Use of evidence-based modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care)
• Electronic health record (EHR) proficiency
• Risk assessment and safety planning
• Interdisciplinary collaboration and care coordination
• Group therapy facilitation
• Cultural competence in diverse populations

• Active or eligible LCPC, LGPC, or LMSW license in Maryland
• Master's degree in counseling, social work, or related mental health field
• Training in evidence-based modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, trauma-focused therapies)

• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Background in outpatient or community mental health preferred
