Junior Linux System Administrator – Defense Division

Location:

Bowie, MD (Onsite required)

The selected individual will perform daily Linux system administration, O&M support, and maintenance for LAN/WAN environments.

• Configuration, setup, and maintenance of numerous air‑gapped IS and networks.
• User account management and access control.
• Installation, configuration, and management of servers.
• Client‑server support, Linux software packages, and hardware upgrades.
• Regression testing on new software releases.
• Secure and maintain all components in accordance with STIG and customer directives.
• Verify and maintain security configuration of Information Systems.
• Patch and antivirus definition management.
• Manage daily break/fix scenarios, updates, backups, monitoring, and user management.
• Hardware troubleshooting (COTS PC, printer, networks, encryption hardware).
• Monitor IT tickets and tasking to ensure timely resolution per priority.
• Develop, document standard operating procedures.
• Endpoint protection within Linux environment.
• Adhere to best practices to provide high‑quality service and support.

• Bachelor’s degree with 0–4 years of experience, Associate degree with 6–8 years, or High School diploma with 8+ years may be considered.
• Can obtain within 6 months DoD 8140/8570 compliant IA certification (Security+ CE or higher).
• Hands‑on experience in Linux server and workstation environments.
• Understanding of the design, implementation, and sustainment of virtualized VM architecture.
• System configuration and security controls under RMF.
• Computer network concepts (hardware, cabling, IP addressing).
• Working knowledge of Windows operating systems.
• Excellent customer service skills and clear written and oral communication.
• Ability to work independently without immediate supervision.
• Willingness to work onsite in Bowie, MD.
• Active and current DoD Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

• Deeper understanding of Linux software.
• Experience with RMF.
