System Administrator
We are seeking a System Administrator that provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. The role manages IT system infrastructure and any related processes, providing day‑to‑day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, and the dispatch system. The candidate will offer Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support, including problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution, and will communicate status to agency management and internal customers.
The role involves configuring and managing UNIX and Windows operating systems, installing and updating operating system software, troubleshooting, maintaining integrity, and configuring network components. The goal is to enhance reliability, security, and performance.
- Creates and maintains Red Hat Linux virtual machines in a cloud infrastructure (Amazon AWS)
- Evaluates systems for IAVA compliance and applies necessary security updates/patches
- Performs command line system administration tasks on virtual machines
- Handles regular system backups and periodically tests backups for functionality
- Communicates with developers and Dev Ops team members to provide system administration support
A current Top‑Secret/SCI with polygraph security clearance is required. Candidates cannot be sponsored or nominated for a government security clearance under this position.
ExperienceTen (10) years of experience as a system administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional system administrator experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
Required Skills- Linux command line system administration (CentOS, Red Hat, Amazon Linux, or equivalent)
- Experience applying system updates via yum or equivalent patching repository
- Experience working within a cloud environment (Amazon AWS, Azure, or equivalent) a plus
- Experience or knowledge of Red Seal Network Mapping tool a plus
- Knowledge of software deployed on systems (Elasticsearch, Docker, Kubernetes, NiFi) a plus but not required
- Syslog/Nx Log
- Nagios or other similar monitoring applications
- Scripting experience (Python/Perl)
Our benefits package includes a complete set of wealth, health, and happiness benefits. The salary range for this position is $195,000–$215,000, depending on education and years of experience.
