McCormick & Company, Inc., a global leader in the spice, flavor, and seasonings industry, is seeking a full‑time VP, Global Packaging & Head of NA Packaging. This new hire will work at McCormick's Technical Innovation Center (TIC) located in Hunt Valley, Maryland. The position will be eligible to participate in McCormick's MyFlex policy, allowing flexibility to work 50% onsite and 50% remotely per month.
POSITIONOVERVIEW
This leadership position is responsible for the global strategic direction, policies, development and execution of overall packaging imperatives for McCormick, as well as managing North America Packaging R&D team. The role will also provide day‑to‑day leadership of the packaging function by driving innovation, cost savings and business continuity, sustainability and/or improvement projects, and influencing change within the global packaging community. Additionally, this position brings thought‑leadership credentials in packaging and consumer‑led innovation strategies and serves as a critical business partner to the McCormick Strategy team, PLP Council and Regional Presidents.
Extensive knowledge and network within the packaging and CPG industries are essential.
- Develop and execute long‑term Packaging Strategy aligned with company objectives and LTP goals, translating brand strategies and consumer insights into effective packaging.
- Develop and own packaging platform technology roadmap and lead the Global Centre of Expertise for Packaging.
- Lead the Global Packaging function and North America Packaging team; provide technical direction to cross‑functional partners in Marketing, Sales, Product Development, Supply Chain and Procurement.
- Act as spokesperson and face of McCormick on packaging matters, including industry & trade association engagements, NGO liaison, and multi‑stakeholder initiatives. Identify risks and opportunities, assess impacts, and develop strategies that advance company growth, performance and people imperatives.
- Represent McCormick Packaging to senior leadership internally and externally, driving results and engaging in top‑to‑top external customer negotiations and joint business planning relationships.
- Champion Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; be an advocate for leveraging the entire workforce and pursue talent acquisition, development and succession planning.
- Develop innovative circular economy strategies that address the needs of people, communities and the planet; implement programs that encourage employee engagement through voluntary sustainability initiatives.
- Master’s degree in Science, Engineering or a related field.
- 20+ years of Technology, Innovation & Packaging Leadership experience, including leading global functions.
- Significant experience in the food & beverage industry, consumer products, and related business segments.
- Strong strategic management and planning skills with a record of contributing to company plans.
- Excellent communication skills to interface with high‑level customer representatives, stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Demonstrated success in development and succession planning of professional staff.
- Management responsibility for global and cross‑functional teams.
- Competence in sustainable platforms and all primary packaging formats.
- Understanding of cultural differences with ability to translate ideas and concepts across non‑US or English‑speaking markets.
- PhD preferred.
