Overview
The Director of Nursing is responsible for directing, coordinating, and controlling all activities required in providing a safe environment for all patients and staff at the center.
This job is located at Lakeview Surgery Center which is part of Prism Vision Group.
Hours of Operation:
Start time: 6:00am-6:30am, dependent on surgery scheudules for the day. 8 hours per day.
Director must remain on-site until all patients have discharged.
Ophthalmology experience in a surgical center preferred.
Experience with QAPI studies needed.
Compensation Range (DOE): $92,000-$192,000
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plans and organizes activities related to specific clinical services to ensure patient needs are met in accordance with all professional standards such as state, federal, and accreditory bodies.
- Helps develop, implement, and monitor policies & procedures at the center.
- Reviews and submits for submission and changes as they relate to center policy and procedures.
- Coordinates daily surgical schedules.
- Coordinates all facility staffing.
- Adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Supervision and collection of all required records and reports.
- Remains an active member of the center committees as delegated by the governing body.
- Educates and carries out daily activities with regard to Infection Control and Risk Management.
- Is an active part of management meetings.
- Assists in the development, implementation, and carry out of all Quality Assurance activities.
- Plans and organizes orientation and in-service training for staff and is an active participant in guidance and other educational programs.
- Makes frequent rounds to all patient care areas to ensure continuity of care and adherence to center guidelines and standards.
- Monitors and helps control department costs to maintain expenditures within allocations.
- Recommends the acquisition of equipment/instrumentation to the governing body.
- Engages in benchmarking and quality studies related to the improving delivery of services/care.
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of all areas within the center.
- Interviewing, hiring, planning, and directing daily work.
- Performance appraisals.
- Conflict/grievance resolution.
- Oversight of the day to day Infection Control Program.
- Coordinates on site visits for inspections, preventative maintenance visits, and consultant visits.
- Coordinates with building management for the receipt of required life safety reports.
- Provides patient care when necessary within scope of practice.
- Maintains standards of nursing care and acts as a patient advocate.
- Ensures the provision of all durable goods necessary to provide safe patient care.
- Takes action to implement the nursing care plan to resolve any problems identified for the individual patient.
- Utilizes supplies, equipment, and resources to contain cost without compromising delivery of care.
- Reduces chances of nosocomial infections by directing the infection prevention policies and environmental safety practices.
- Reports and documents all information accurately and timely and to the appropriate party.
- Communicates and maintains a positive, caring attitude to all patients, peers, staff, and all other contacts.
- Seeks guidance, directions, and assistance where needed.
- Completes all required local, state, federal, and accreditory reporting.
- Assigned tasks related to credentialing and privileging.
- Monitors staff time and submits applicable payroll reports.
- Adheres to all center policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Privacy Practices & Patient Bill of Rights.
- Maintains knowledge of Infection Control & OSHA standards of practice.
- Knowledge of centers Policies & Procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by the administrator or governing body.
- Essential Job Functions:
Able to perform any reasonable work request that falls within the qualifications but not specifically described.
Qualifications Qualification/Certifications/Licenses:- Graduate of an Accredited Registered Nurse Program
- Current unrestricted State of Maryland Nursing License
- BLS, ACLS
- Must have a minimum of 5 years nursing management experience.
- Must be detail oriented and well organized
- Must be able to multi-task
Environment:
This position is located in an Ambulatory Surgery Center.
Physical Demands:
This position requires extensive mobility, walking, and standing. Most of the days work involves pushing, pulling, and lifting patients or equipment. There is a potential exposure to patients with communicable diseases and/or blood borne pathogens.
