We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist with expertise in Industrial Hygiene and Exposure Science to join our Health Sciences practice in the greater Washington DC area. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide scientific support on projects addressing human health risks associated with environmental, occupational, consumer, and other exposures. You will receive mentorship from senior consultants and have opportunities to work across Exponent’s science and engineering practices, contributing to impactful solutions that make a difference for our clients and communities.

• Conduct comprehensive reviews and critical analyses of scientific literature, regulatory standards, guidance documents, and legal case materials.
• Perform targeted literature searches related to specific diseases, exposures, and health outcomes.
• Contribute to the development and authorship of complex technical reports and publications.
• Manage and analyze data from project tasks and applied research studies.
• Organize and maintain project-related materials and documentation.
• Engage with clients through remote and in‑person interactions, demonstrating professionalism and a thoughtful, client‑centered approach.
• Cultivate professional expertise, leadership capabilities, and contributions to the scientific community.
• Note:
  
  This role does not involve laboratory‑based research or testing.

• Ph.D. in Exposure Science or Occupational and Environmental Hygiene.
• 5 or more years of consulting experience in the exposure science space.
• Credential as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
• Proven ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and effectively through well‑structured writing, precise editing, and thoughtful verbal communication tailored to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated success managing multiple tasks with attention to detail, discretion, and sound judgment.
• Commitment to professional development through scientific publication, presentations, and active participation in professional societies.
• Collaborative mindset that values diversity of thought and fosters respectful teamwork.
• Initiative, adaptability, and passion for applying objective science to solve real‑world challenges.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States. No immigration sponsorship or processing required.

Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent’s total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Associate and Senior Associate level, total compensation includes base salary, bi‑weekly bonuses for high‑intensity efforts, annual bonus and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
