The Stormwater Management Division is now accepting applications for the position of Senior Laborer. Duties include taking a lead role in constructing, maintaining, and repairing municipal stormwater drainage systems like catch basins, pipes, culverts, and channels, as well as taking on some supervisory duties. The successful candidate will have the ability to understand and follow directions, along with the ability to perform heavy manual labor.
Essentialjob functions will include, but not be limited to:
System Maintenance: Inspecting, clearing, and repairing stormwater structures, including drain inlets, manholes, channels, ditches, and detention basins.
Construction & Repair: Laying storm sewer pipe, pouring/finishing concrete for curbs and headwalls, and building retaining walls.
Crew Leadership: Providing direction, on-the-job training, and oversight to less experienced laborers. Acting as the crew supervisor in their absence.
Equipment Operation: Safely operating heavy and specialized machinery, such as dump trucks, backhoes, excavators, skid steers, and snow removal equipment.
Safety & Compliance: Ensuring compliance with traffic control standards (flagging).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- HS Diploma or GED
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor and follow specific instructions
- Experience operating various landscaping and some heavy construction equipment
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL)
$23.49 per hour
