Job Summary
Senior Staff Engineer at GEICO responsible for leading the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap to modernize the servicing organization, including large-scale system and data migration.
Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership to multiple areas and deliver thought leadership across the enterprise.
- Collaborate across teams and the technology organization to solve complex challenges.
- Design and deliver high‑scale, high‑quality data architecture, especially legacy‑to‑modern platform transitions.
- Develop high‑quality services and software for a variety of domains.
- Ensure the quality, usability, and performance of solutions.
- Design and develop APIs and microservices using Graph
QL, gRPC, Java, Python, Kafka, and API‑driven migration strategies. - Use object‑oriented languages such as Java, C#, or similar, and SQL/No
SQL databases. - Deploy applications in a hybrid cloud environment using Kubernetes, various data stores, and cloud‑native tools and services.
- Act as a role model and mentor, coaching and strengthening the technical expertise within the engineering and product community.
- Influence and educate executives on technical direction.
- 10+ years of full‑stack web development experience (C# / Java / Python / Go) and 8+ years with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and private cloud technologies.
- Strong experience in leading and building architecture and design of new and existing systems, including reliability, scalability, and design patterns.
- Deep knowledge of ETL, SQL, bitemporal data modeling, temporal databases, and API‑based migration.
- Experience with shadow mode, dual‑write, and deconversions.
- Strong understanding of data observability, traceability, and multi‑faceted testing.
- Proven expertise in designing and developing microservices using Graph
QL, gRPC, Java, Python, Kafka, and event‑driven architectures. - Proven experience delivering highly‑resilient event‑driven and messaging‑based solutions at scale with minimal latency.
- Hands‑on experience building complex SAAS systems and large‑scale business‑focused services with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Fluency in Java and at least one other modern language (C#, C++, Python) with object‑oriented design expertise.
- Extensive experience leading full‑stack application and service development focused on SAAS products and platforms.
- Knowledge of open‑source databases such as MySQL, Postgre
SQL, Cosmos, Cassandra, and Apache Trino. - Ability to excel in a fast‑paced, startup‑like environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education/work experience.

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are considered to arrive at the final hourly rate/annual salary, including scope and responsibilities of the role, candidate’s experience, education, training, work location, and market/business considerations.
