LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a respected organization to identify a Staff Accountant to join their growing finance team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where you'll contribute to financial reporting, analysis, compliance initiatives, and process improvement efforts that support key business objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, experience with month-end close activities, and a passion for driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Close & Compliance

  • Support monthly and quarterly close activities, ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, maintain supporting documentation, and perform account reconciliations.
  • Execute and maintain internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing control enhancements as business needs evolve.

Reporting & Financial Analysis

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Research and analyze financial variances, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Perform detailed account analysis and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Support management reporting and business decision-making through financial insights.

Business Partnership & Collaboration

  • Partner with cross-functional teams across the organization to resolve accounting issues and improve financial processes.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning initiatives.
  • Communicate financial results and key findings to leadership as needed.
  • Support business operations by providing accurate financial information and analysis.

Audit & Regulatory Support

  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audit engagements.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting and data requests.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and reporting requirements.

Process Improvement & Special Projects

  • Evaluate existing processes and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participate in automation, system enhancement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support special projects related to accounting, regulatory changes, and operational improvements.
  • Leverage emerging technologies and analytical tools to improve reporting and decision-making.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting principles, and SOX compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience preparing account reconciliations and financial analyses.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, integrity, and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation or CPA-track candidate.
  • MBA with a concentration in Accounting or Finance.
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Experience supporting SEC, FERC, regulatory, or utility reporting requirements.
  • Exposure to data analytics, automation tools, or AI-enabled reporting solutions.
