The Procurement Process Analyst is responsible for establishing, standardizing, documenting, and continuously improving purchasing processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across the organization. This role develops clear, scalable workflows that enhance purchasing controls, increase operational efficiency, define ownership, and provide consistent guidance for employees involved in procurement activities.
Key Responsibilities Purchasing Process Management- Evaluate existing purchasing processes, workflows, policies, systems, and operational challenges.
- Document and map current-state procurement processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and control risks.
- Design and implement standardized future-state purchasing processes and workflows.
- Develop, maintain, and update procurement SOPs, work instructions, process maps, templates, and supporting documentation.
- Define roles, responsibilities, approval authorities, workflow handoffs, and escalation procedures.
- Train internal stakeholders on purchasing processes, reporting tools, and procurement system functionality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process consistency and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain recurring reports, dashboards, scorecards, and management presentations.
- Analyze purchasing spend by supplier, category, department, location, cost center, and other key business dimensions.
- Monitor and report on purchasing performance metrics, including cost savings, compliance, and process efficiency.
- Prepare forecasts, ad hoc analyses, and executive summaries to support budgeting, sourcing, and strategic decision-making.
- Establish and maintain consistent reporting methodologies, calculations, and data governance standards for procurement metrics.
- Identify trends and opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, and enhanced supplier performance.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or a related field. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement operations, supply chain analytics, financial analysis, business process improvement, or a related discipline.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookup functions, formulas, data validation, and data analysis techniques.
- Experience working with ERP systems and/or procurement platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, problem-solving ability, and follow-through.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across departments.
- APICS, ISM, CPSM, or other supply chain/procurement certifications are preferred.
- Process mapping and workflow documentation experience.
- Knowledge of purchasing controls, supplier management, and procurement best practices.
- Experience creating SOPs, policies, and training materials.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into business insights.
- Familiarity with reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms is a plus.
