Under the direction of Dr. Julia Roberts, The Center has become one of the preeminent advocates for gifted education in the United States.
AboutThe Gatton Academy
The Gatton Academy is a public residential STEM program established and funded by the Kentucky legislature. It is located on the campus of Western Kentucky University. Students complete their last two years of high school in the program while earning at least 60 hours of college credit.
WKU is also home to the international headquarters of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children, headquarters of the Kentucky Association for Gifted Education, and the Mahurin Honors College.
Job DescriptionThe Postdoctoral Research Fellow will support expanding the research conducted through The Center for Gifted Studies and The Gatton Academy. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will collaborate with personnel in both units to develop and execute research projects and agendas. Key responsibilities will also include wrangling and analyzing data, collaborating on grant writing, and preparing manuscripts for publication. Continuation is dependent upon funding/need.
Requirements- Doctoral degree in gifted and talented education, education, educational psychology, policy, STEM education, or a related area (degree must be conferred by the start date of the appointment)
- Proficiency with quantitative research methods, including data wrangling, statistical analysis, and use of relevant software (e.g., R, SAS, Stata, SPSS, etc.)
- Evidence of scholarly publication in gifted education, advanced coursework, or other fields related to the work of The Center for Gifted Studies and The Gatton Academy
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple research tasks and deadlines independently
