About The Center for Gifted Studies

The Center for Gifted Studies has been serving children who are gifted and talented, their educators, and their parents for more than 40 years. The Center provides exciting educational opportunities for gifted young people, rigorous professional learning for educators, and support for parents of gifted young people. Under the direction of Dr. Julia Roberts, The Center has become one of the preeminent advocates for gifted education in the United States.

WKU is also home The Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science, the international headquarters of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children, headquarters of the Kentucky Association for Gifted Education, and the Mahurin Honors College.

Job Description

The Assistant Director of Programming will be responsible for providing leadership in developing and implementing programming for The Center for Gifted Studies. Additionally, the position serves as editor for The Challenge magazine and provides proofreading and editing support for The Center's blog and other materials disseminated through The Center for Gifted Studies. This position will be in-person on the campus of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY.

Primary

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assume responsibility for planning and implementing residential summer programming
  • Support other programming offered through The Center for Gifted Studies
  • Provide professional learning to districts and organizations
  • Edit The Challenge magazine and provide proofreading and editing support for The Center's blog and other materials for The Center for Gifted Studies
  • Initiate opportunities to be offered by The Center for Gifted Studies
  • Participate in grant writing
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple project tasks and deadlines independently
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree and an endorsement/certificate in gifted education OR a master's/specialist/doctoral degree in Gifted Education and Talent Development or closely related field
Additional Information Salary Range: $50,000 - $58,000
