The Center for Gifted Studies has been serving children who are gifted and talented, their educators, and their parents for more than 40 years. The Center provides exciting educational opportunities for gifted young people, rigorous professional learning for educators, and support for parents of gifted young people. Under the direction of Dr. Julia Roberts, The Center has become one of the preeminent advocates for gifted education in the United States.

WKU is also home to The Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science, the international headquarters of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children, headquarters of the Kentucky Association for Gifted Education, and Mahurin Honors College.

The Coordinator of Residence Life for The Center for Gifted Studies will be responsible for providing leadership for the residential counselors during the Summer Program for Academically Talented Middle School Students (SCATS) and the Summer Program for Verbally and Mathematically Precocious Youth (VAMPY).

SCATS and VAMPY campers are assigned to a residential counselor group, and the residential counselor is responsible for overseeing the students when they are not in class. Students in SCATS and VAMPY are in class for six hours each day, and VAMPY has an additional hour of study hall most nights there is class the next day. The role of Coordinator of Residence Life is specifically involved with providing leadership, in collaboration with the Director and Assistant Directors, to the residential counselors regarding the residential aspects of camp.

The Coordinator for Residence Life will live in the residence hall for the duration of SCATS and VAMPY. The position will start a week before students arrive to plan counselor training and other activities with camp leadership.
