Adult Education Adjunct - HVAC

HVAC Instructor (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) – Adjunct, Part‑time (up to 28 hours per week)

Location:

Warren County Career Center – Adult Education, Main Campus

Schedule:

Monday to Thursday evenings, 5:00–9:30 PM (position may be filled by more than one instructor)

General

Job Description:

HVAC Instructors are subject matter experts who provide classroom and laboratory instruction in a variety of HVAC courses as part of an approved training and education curriculum by NCCER, creating a talent pipeline of individuals seeking work in the HVAC industry.

• Design meaningful and sequential instruction with relevant learning activities to meet course objectives
• Teach curriculum designed by NCCER
• Ensure specific skills related to HVAC work are developed
• Demonstrate the proper use of equipment and tools
• Assist students with certification assessment preparation
• Revise courses in conjunction with the Coordinator of Advanced Manufacturing to stay up to date with industry advances
• Promote the program and recruit students through a variety of activities
• Adhere to all safety standards and industry practices, and care for classroom and laboratory facilities, equipment, and materials
• Work with the program advisory committee to advance program innovations, evaluate the significance of emerging technology, create opportunities for students, and ensure program standards and activities are relevant to business and industry needs
• Build relationships with other programs, instructors, and industry leaders and employers in the community
• Build awareness of the HVAC program among vendors, suppliers, builders, and contractors to improve student job placement
• Perform other duties as assigned

• A love for teaching and strong interest in changing students’ lives
• Verifiable experience as a lead service technician and/or service manager
• Five years of recent HVAC experience in residential and commercial settings
• Previous teaching experience is preferred
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Valid licensure/permit by the Ohio Department of Education as an Adult Education Instructor (or willingness to obtain the credential)
• Adherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators
• Maintenance of a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment and the ability to pass a BCI/FBI background check after a job offer is made
• Compliance with board policies and other applicable procedures/guidelines

Salary: $31.08 per hour
