Long Term Substitute Intervention Specialist (Mild / Moderate)
Location:
Perry Middle School, Perry, OH.
Compensation:
Per PCTA Negotiated Agreement.
Perry Local Schools desires to employ an Ohio licensed teacher to serve as a Long Term Substitute Special Education Teacher at Perry Middle School. The position will require the following responsibilities and qualifications.
Responsibilities- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students' needs.
- Use data‑driven approaches to evaluate student progress and adjust interventions accordingly.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other specialists to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Instructional Support:
- Develop and implement evidence‑based intervention programs tailored to individual student needs.
- Provide direct instruction to students in small groups or one‑on‑one settings.
- Integrate interventions within the general education curriculum and collaborate with teachers to support inclusive practices.
- Behavioral and Social‑Emotional Support:
- Implement strategies to support students' social‑emotional development and positive behavior.
- Work with school counselors and psychologists to address behavioral issues and develop behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Maintain open communication with parents, providing regular updates on student progress and strategies for support at home.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists.
- Work collaboratively with Educational Associates to support student needs, delegating in a productive and effective manner.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent‑teacher conferences, and professional development sessions.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of student progress and intervention outcomes.
- Prepare reports for IEP meetings, progress reviews, and other required documentation.
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Special Education. - Certification:
Valid state teaching license with endorsement in special education. - Minimum Required Qualifications:
Ohio Teaching License: K‑12 Intervention Specialist. - Skills:
- Strong understanding of child development and early intervention strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and specialists.
- Proficiency in using technology to support student learning and maintain records.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Frequent bending, stooping, and standing.
- Ability to move around the classroom and school environment to support student needs.
