Criminal Record CheckPursuant to KRS 160.380, every new hire must complete a State and National background check. Your employment will be contingent upon a background record free of any information which, in the opinion of the school district, would have an adverse effect upon your ability to substitute teach.
Additionally, an Administrative Office of the Courts and a Child Abuse and Neglect Check background check must also be completed. Additional information will be provided by the Personnel Department.
Performance Responsibilities- Report to the front office and check in upon arrival.
- Maintain, as fully as possible, the established routines, procedures, and expectations of the assigned classroom and school.
- Provide instruction following the lesson plans prepared by the absent teacher.
- Perform all extra duties assigned to the absent teacher, as directed by school administration (e.g., supervising arrival/dismissal, hallways, breakfast, lunch, or special programs).
- Meet and instruct assigned classes at the designated times and locations.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and positive classroom environment appropriate for the age, maturity, and needs of students.
- Take all reasonable precautions to safeguard school property, including furniture, instructional materials, equipment, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law, district policies, and administrative regulations.
- Be available to students and parents for education-related matters outside the instructional day when reasonably requested or required.
- Notify the principal or designee as soon as possible if unable to report to an assignment.
- Remain on campus for the full school day unless excused by the principal or designee for emergency reasons.
- Participate in meetings, committees, or co-curricular activities as assigned by the principal or administrative staff.
- Immediately report any unusual or critical incidents (e.g., threats, thefts, suspected child abuse, harassment) to the principal.
- Supervise students during classroom and non-classroom activities throughout the workday.
- Frequently stand and walk to transition students or move between classrooms as needed.
- Administer group assessments in accordance with school and district assessment procedures.
- Implement all school and district emergency procedures to ensure student safety.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the safety of students and staff.
- Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics adopted by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board.
- Administer health-related services to students when necessary, including administering medication, operating or assisting with medical equipment, or providing clinical procedures as permitted by law and district policy.
- Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills by treating students, parents, and staff with respect and professionalism.
- Maintain an appropriate and professional appearance.
- Serve as a positive representative of the school and district in all interactions with students, families, and the community.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and family matters.
- Comply with all Board of Education policies, administrative guidelines, school rules, and directives issued by the Principal, Superintendent, Administrative Staff, or School-Based Decision Making Council.
- Maintain reliable attendance without repeated unexcused absences, tardiness, or absences without proper notification.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal, Administrative Staff, Director of Human Resources, or Superintendent.
